Bring your history: import from Google Analytics 4, Fathom & Plausible
One thing has always made switching analytics tools painful: losing your history. The day you move to a new tool, your charts reset to zero and every year-over-year comparison disappears. Today we're fixing that. You can now import your historical data from Google Analytics 4, Fathom, and Plausible directly into ClearAnalytics.
Why we built it
Most people who move to ClearAnalytics are coming from somewhere else — usually Google Analytics, or a privacy-friendly tool like Fathom or Plausible. They love the idea of cookieless, privacy-first analytics, but they don't want to throw away years of context to get it. Importing closes that gap: your dashboard stays continuous from day one, and the trends you already rely on keep working.
How it works
Connect a provider once, link it to one of your sites, and run the import. We pull day-level aggregates — pageviews, visitors, sessions, top pages, countries, devices, browsers, and referrers — and blend them straight into your existing dashboard charts.
- Google Analytics 4 — connect with Google and pick the GA4 property for each site.
- Fathom — paste a read-only API key and select your Fathom site.
- Plausible — paste an API key and enter your Plausible site (works with self-hosted Plausible too).
Imported numbers appear alongside your live, tracked data in the same graphs, so a year of history flows seamlessly into today. Wherever imported data is included, the dashboard shows a clear "incl. GA4 / Fathom / Plausible" label so you always know what you're looking at.
Privacy stays first
This is an import of aggregates, not people. We only ever request the day-level numbers these providers already anonymized — never individual visitor data — and imported rows never touch our cookieless visitor hashing. Your live tracking stays exactly as private as it has always been; the imported history simply gives it a longer memory.
A note on the beta
Importing is brand new and currently marked Beta. The headline numbers — pageviews and visitors over time — line up cleanly. Some breakdowns can differ slightly between providers (for example, how each one labels a traffic source), and unique-visitor counts from a provider's daily aggregates are an approximation rather than an exact reconstruction. We label everything clearly and we're refining the edges. If something looks off, tell us — that feedback is exactly what the beta is for.
Get started
Head to Settings → Integrations, connect Google Analytics, Fathom, or Plausible, link it to a site, and import your last 12 months. Your history is waiting — bring it with you.
